The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are Nigerians (male and female, young and old, married and single, widow and widower, orphans etc.) who have been displaced from their homes and communities by the devious atrocities of the Boko Haram insurgency, government-led counterinsurgency operations, inter-communal violence and natural disasters in the North East and other parts of Nigeria.
Over 1.5 million people have been internally displaced, all currently living in very poor conditions, sheltering in 20 camps scattered across the North.
NAZAS in partnership with MPAC (Muslim Public Affairs Centre) has joined efforts to collaboratively provide support and relief materials to IDPs in select camps in Yobe, Borno and Gombe States. NAZAS also embarked on multiple drives to collect used clothings and shoes for distribution to the needy. NAZAS also embarked on a campaign that led to the purchase and distribution of over 8,800 pair of Flip-Flop slippers to the IDPs in the 3 states in 2017.
